It is a remarkable fact that both the regional cooperation between the Benelux Member States and that between the Baltic States have adopted agreements on automatic level recognition of higher education qualifications, the first of their kind in Europe.

Following their respective agreements, the Benelux and Baltic countries have expressed their willingness to further collaborate in this field by way of a multilateral Treaty. This multilateral Treaty is currently being concluded and will be launched and presented to the wider international community on Monday the 27th of September 2021, from 17:00 – 18:10h

With this Treaty, the Benelux Member States and the Baltic States wish to offer a new instrument for enhancing the Bologna Process’ objective of automatic recognition of qualifications in the Education Higher Education Area  in alignment with the achievements of the Lisbon Recognition Convention (1997), the European Standards and Guidelines on Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area and the European Qualifications Framework and the Qualifications Framework for the European Higher Education Area.
During the launching ceremony we will give the floor to several Ministers of the Benelux and Baltic countries as well as to crucial international stakeholders (European Union, Council of Europe and UNESCO) and European representative organisations of academic partners.

Unfortunately we have reached the limit for physical attendance but you can still register to follow the event online! We thank you for your understanding. For questions do not hesitate to contact l.dijkink@benelux.int.
