Final Event PACE

This webinar addresses professionals, policy makers, researchers, students and all others working in the sectors of early years or
employment. Feel free to share this invitation with anyone who would be interested.

Combining work and childcare is not easy for families. Sometimes, work or the lack of work, can hinder access to good childcare.
Also, childcare requirements can limit the possibilities to work. This situation is particularly difficult for disadvantaged families who
generally have less access to childcare and to jobs. PACE, a social innovation project, experimented with different approaches to
facilitate the combination of childcare and employment, or starting with employment. This webinar presents the results and key
insights of the PACE project.
Program
  • 10.00 - 10.15: Why Pace?
  • 10.15 - 11.00: Workshop 1: Childcare and employment
The meaning of childcare for parents' employment cannot be underestimated. Still, the general scenario thinks of parents finding a job or enrolling in training before looking for childcare. But what if we would flip this and start with childcare? This workshop shows what opportunities starting with childcare creates for families, for employers and for childcare.

  • 11.00 – 11.05: Break
  • 11.05 – 11.50: Workshop 2: Flexible childcare
Childcare should become more flexible. It is easy to say, but not simple to do. A lot of childcare's pedagogical practices and managerial models lean heavily on predictability. This workshop shows how to reconcile existing practices with a less predictable context: what organizational models are possible, how to guide families and how to support staff.

  • 11.50: Book launch: “Flexibility in childcare.”
